Wouldn’t it be nice if there was an off switch for anything and everything?
It seems like there’s an off-switch for every machine that humanity created. Televisions, radios, cell phones, computers, automobiles, ships, airplanes, lights and so on. If there’s no off switch for said machine, you can always “unplug” it from its power source and boom, it’s off.
It is however an entirely different story for the rest of the world. Is the sun too hot? We can’t turn it off. The best we can do is find shade. Is the rain too much? No off switch either. Someone annoying you? No off switch for that too.
How I wish there is an off-switch for everything.
Imagine turning off everything so we can think, read, meditate and be alone without having to worry about missing a thing.
Reminds me of the movie Click starred by Adam Sandler. In that movie, he’s got a remote control that can not just turn things off and on, he can also rewind and fast forward time with it.
Forget the extra perks of a remote, I just want an on/off switch.
Some say sleeping is the next best thing but I beg to differ. I mean, when you sleep, you don’t turn off the world, you are actually turning off yourself. Worse part is when you wake up, you’ll have to catch up with things that happened while you were asleep.
At this point of my life, I’ve resigned to accepting the simple truth that if there is such a switch then perhaps only God has it. Humans are bound to live in an ever-forward-moving time, having to live every second as it passes and trying his best not to waste any of it.
Perhaps, just perhaps, that’s the point of life. No off-switch so we are somewhat forced to live it. Live it the best way we can and it turn transform ourselves into the best that we can be without because we know that sooner or later, everything will end.
Bummer, no off switch. I just have to accept it. We just have to accept it.
