Yes, there’s nothing wrong with being an introvert. Too say that introvertism is lesser than extrovertism is the same as saying that black people are lesser than white or vice versa or even saying that women are lesser than men. This is just not true.
The truth is we are who we are.
What bothers me most is society’s extrovert mindset. Extroverts are favored and introverts somehow have to work their way out of the mud. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying it’s all bad. All I’m saying is that we are reared in an environment where voicing out is favored over being quiet. Introverts being stereotyped sa geeks or nerds and so on.
But what’s wrong with that? Nothing really. What’s wrong with being a geek, a nerd, a bookworm? Nothing. But somehow the young introverts are bullied and older introverts are looked down upon. This must stop.
Introverts too can be bullies, looking at extroverts as stupid people who don’t taste for the smart things in life. This too must stop.
Of course there are good souls out there who see us for who we are – smart, calculated, empathic people who speak from the heart and choose friends wisely and blessed be those souls. I just wish that there are more such souls in this world.
So, are you an introvert? Be proud of who you are? Don’t change for the sake of society’s accepted view of people.
I say the same for extroverts and those in between, the ambiverts. You are who you are – don’t change either. Be yourself.
And let all be as they are, introverts, extroverts, ambiverts, white, black, brown, yellow, men and women.
